Tech Kings at CES 2013 - OLED TVs

Looking Back

For a better idea of what goes on at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), have a look at some of the cool stuff we saw last year.

Samsung Super OLED

Samsung stole the HDTV show at this year's CES with their 55-inch Super OLED TV. For those of you that don't already know, each OLED pixel consists of its own RGB subpixels and emits its own light. This results in ridiculous colors and stunning clarity. Even more impressive is the fact that this beast packs a dual-core processor along with a camera, microphone, and other components into a panel that's a few millimeters thick. Samsung's Smart TV applications and 3D functionality have been carried over as well.

On the slim chance that you are still unaware, somewhere in in the LVCC there's an 85-inch TV. EIGHTY-FIVE INCHES! We'll let the pictures do the talking when we get a look at this behemoth.

The eye-candy engineers at LG have also been hard at work to bring us their own OLED panel, powered by the proprietary TRIPLE XD Engine to deliver superior color reproduction and the finest detail. At 16 pounds and 4 millimeters thick, LG says this is "the TV of dreams." We couldn't agree more.

LG has announced that their latest 55-inch OLED TV will go on sale in the U.S. in March of 2013. At 4mm thick, less than 22 pounds, and a $12,000 price tag, this is an elite TV in all respects.
