Patriot Memory Wildfire 120GB SATAIII SSD Review - Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

Patriot's Wildfire SSDs are using the same Sandforce SF-2281 controllers that other high end SSDs will be using, so you can be assured that you'll receive a performance drive.  In comparison to it's smaller brother, which is still packing Sandforce SF-2281-and an "aggressive" price, there still remains a performance gap in both incompressible performance and the compressible write performance.  In real-world usage, there is little significant difference between them, but the raw performance difference is highlighted by our benchmark testing.

When it's all said and done, the Wildfire 120GB drive will run with the best of them, and the 120GB price point provides the best cost-performance-capacity benefits.  This puts the 120GB version high up on our wishlist for a high performance drive.  And although we have not had the privilege of testing many other Sandforce SF-2281 drives, other tests have shown that the Wildfire is in the upper ranks, and Patriot will no doubt continue chasing the bleeding edge of storage technology.
