The packaging is quite basic, and very clean with subtle coloring.  It has plenty of illustrations of the various features of the LapAir cooler, and has multi-lingual specifications on the box.

The LapAir has a simple black surface, with rounded edges, and a large venting surface with a single 80mm, silent cooling fan.  The vent comes off easily by pulling the "tab" seen on the right side, which is great for cleaning.  It has a very simple and elegant appearance when you see it in person.

The LapAir sits in a propped position, which is comfortable on a desk, but makes using a notebook on your lap much more comfortable, and a more ergonomic feel.  You can also see the curved edges, which look looks and feels nice.

The bottom is nearly as simple as the upper surface, but you can see the built-in grooves for cable management, the sponge pad for your lap, and the built-in USB slot.

The padding on the bottom is comfortably soft, yet not squishy where the cooler will flex on a table or on your lap.  It's stable, but still soft enough where comfort is increased through the use of the foam pad.  It also helps minimize vibrations.  The USB connector stores conveniently on the bottom as well, a great feature for those who plan to use a notebook cooler on-the-go.

The rear vent is on the back of the propped area underneath the foam pad.  The front edge has a wide rubber pad for added grip, and does a good job of holding the cooler in place.

Final Thoughts

The LapAir is the most comfortable lap-based cooler I have used.  The soft padding is very comfortable, and conforms well, adding an ergonomic factor, yet it's not so squishy that the base is unstable.  The single cooling fan is very quiet, and vents a cool whisp of air uniformly under the notebook, keeping the surface of the computer noticeable cooler.  The built-in cable management is very neat, and the storage slot for the USB connector makes streamlining for travel a breeze.

The design is simple, functional, and very smoothly designed.  The flat upper surface curves neatly to the underside, and it looks even better in person than it does in pictures.  Simply elegant, and comfort meets a notebook cooler that can work as well on a desk as it will on your lap.  The fan vent comes off easily to enable easy cleaning to keep your notebook from having dust blown into its vents, and keep airflow at its best.  The built-in cable management is well thought out, and despite being such a simple addition, really adds to the entire cooler as a whole.

Pros:

  • Removeable/washable vent cover
  • Quiet
  • Cable management
  • Neat design
  • Comfortable padding

Cons:

  • No USB hub/ports
